RUN 1 - Introduction
1m 53s
There are three main parts to RunFit exercise system:
Screening, prehab and core work
Track drills that focus on running technique
And the extra sessions using steps, sand and barefoot running.
It all starts with the screening where you assess your own strengths and weakness and keep track of your progress through the program using the screening log sheet. Then there’s the prehab and core work which gives you the specific strength, mobility and control to allow you run efficiently. The drills then transfer the ability to run well into improved running technique. Finally the strength sessions in sand and on the steps add variation to your training and the barefoot running complements the program by bringing to life the sensation of running.
The program can be used at any time of the year, however it works best if you start with the screening, prehab and core work then progress onto the running drills and finally the strength and barefoot work. It is recommended to build up with a minimum of six weeks of prehab and mixed core sessions prior to starting the running drills as they require a level of control and stability that is developed in the earlier training.
Spring and early summer is perfect for starting the running drills. This section is broken down into four phases that explore the key concepts of running through sensation and body awareness with running drills that work all the elements of running to help you develop a smooth efficient running action that keeps you free from injury and running to the best of your potential.
We recommend you consult your Doctor before you start any exercise programme.
