SWIM 1 - Introduction
45s
SwimFit is an exercise system that takes clinically proven techniques to make you a faster more efficient swimmer who is less prone to injury. Neil has treated and worked with hundreds of swimmers and triathletes of all levels from recreational to olympic and even world champions. Drawing on his experience and along with that of Fiona Ford (former GB triathlete, Pro Ironman athlete, Professional F/T BTF Level 3 coach and Swim Smooth Certified) he has created a user friendly programme that is suitable for any level of swimmer or triathlete and can be used year round for training and injury prevention.
We are going to take you through the process of identifying some of the weaknesses and flaws in movement technique that with sufficient repetition will either cause injury or an adapted swimming stroke. The prehab component helps you cover all the main movement mechanics with strength, range and control. There are two core strength elements that take you further towards improving your swimming performance and then finally some drills in the pool to transfer the strength and movement into your stroke. There is also a full stretch program specifically for swimmers.
Get familiar with the sessions and then aim to do a prehab and stretching session each time you swim train, do the core sessions I and II once a week each, and the swim drills when you feel you need to.
The SwimFit programme has been developed to require little or no specialist equipment. The items you will need are:
1 large towel
1 water bottle partially filled with water
Yoga/Exercise mat (or large towel)
Chair
Pull buoy
