Neil Maclean-Martin & La Clinique du Sport - CHAMONIX
Neil Maclean-Martin is the founder of 'La Clinique du Sport', a specialist sports injury and physiotherapy clinic in Chamonix-Mont-Blanc, France.
With more than 20 years’ experience working in elite sport, Neil is a clinical specialist in musculoskeletal and sports injuries. His career has taken him from hospitals and specialist clinics to the highest levels of international competition, working with Olympic and Commonwealth Games athletes, international sports teams and professional sailing teams. He has also worked extensively with athletes across a wide range of sports, from elite competitors to recreational athletes.
Opened in 2009, La Clinique du Sport has developed into a centre of excellence for the diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation and prevention of sports injuries. Based in Chamonix, a town where mountain sports and an active lifestyle are part of everyday life, the clinic works with everyone from elite athletes to recreational sportspeople.
Neil’s experience treating injuries has also highlighted an important principle: "many injuries can be prevented". This led him to develop a range of sport-specific exercise programmes designed to identify and address weaknesses, imbalances and movement deficiencies before they become injuries.
The programmes featured on this channel bring that experience directly to athletes. Neil demonstrates and explains practical, evidence-informed exercises designed to improve strength, mobility, movement quality and technique, helping athletes prepare their bodies for the demands of their sport and stay active for longer.
From skiing and running to cycling and mountain sports, these programmes are built around a simple philosophy - preparation is an essential part of performance, and injury prevention starts before the injury occurs.
Neil’s approach combines the perspective of an experienced physiotherapist, an elite-sport practitioner and an athlete himself. His own sporting background includes ski mountaineering and ultra-distance events, giving him a first-hand understanding of the physical demands faced by the athletes and outdoor enthusiasts he works with.
